Crisis Management
A nasty thought that most often refers to the need to fix an immediate problem due to a faulty product that can do harm or a company that has strayed from an ethical path.
Naturally, no client wants to admit that they need this kind of help. You rarely see companies bragging that they hired a consultant to bail them out of a crisis.
And that’s okay.
What is more likely to happen (and companies still don’t want to advertise this problem) is that the company has been mismanaged or it hasn’t always followed the straight ethical path, or used proper etiquette. Their reputation gets tarnished. That’s a bad image problem that permeates through an organization slowly and spreads like a slow growing cancer into the community. Sometimes a company grew too fast and couldn’t handle the volume in an effective way, or it hired a few oddballs that really didn’t fit into the corporate culture. There are many scenarios. The great thing is that a solid company, with a great foundation of ethics, can polish their image.
